The project “youth-4-Elbe” needs the commitment and interest of schools from Germany and the Czech Republic to campaign for the conservation of natural flowing waters. This is the reason why we are glad to notice the numerous schools which already participated our project and still do. These schools are:
• Berthold-Brecht-Gymnasium, Brandenburg
• Georgius-Agricola-Gymnasium, Chemnitz
• Gymnázium Jana Palacha, Praha
• Klasické gymnasium, Modřany
• Ludwig-Meyn-Gymnasium, Uetersen
• Maxim-Gorki-Gesamtschule, Kleinmachnow
• Oberschule Premnitz, Premnitz
If your school wants to participate, you are welcome!
Organization and accomplishment of each youth-camp will develop in agreement with the participating teachers. Those will arrange and place qualified staff that supports each camp with its expert knowledge. Generally the camps take place in a period of four to five days during school-days. Mostly, they are for free and promoted by the ALCOA Foundation and other trusts. In exceptional cases there is a small contribution to pay.
We ask specifically for students who are interested in flowing waters and environmental protection and will be promoted in these cases by their school tutors. It is possible for all classes from any kind of school to attend, but precondition is to have English basics and be keen on joining the topic.
At the beginning of each camp the students get some tasks they have to work out in groups and introduce their results altogether at the end in English. Teachers and qualified personnel will stand by to help.
The project “youth-4-Elbe” doesn’t restrain itself on bilateral youth-camps. It is very important for us, that participating schools go on with the topic by arranging and executing activities among each other, showing their interests and one’s own initiative. Preferable are practical activities within the context of project-days, specific introductions or anything else. Furthermore, participating teachers and tutors may attend on teacher’s seminars and exchange experiences and fresh ideas among each other.
